Artist Bio:
My family moved from Indiana to Oregon when I was eight, and from the beginning, art was a constant and something I returned to instinctively through my early studies and at the University of Oregon. Initially I pursued Art, but after my first year, shifted directions at my father’s urging, choosing Journalism Advertising, a path he believed offered more stability, especially given the university’s nationally recognized program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and went on to build a career in marketing and communications, first within an in-house agency for a major retailer, and later in corporate relations and marketing at the University of Hawaii, yet always painting.
In 2007, I returned more fully to the creative world by opening my own gallery and boutique in Portland, Oregon. The space became a platform not only for my own work but for a wide range of painters and designers, and I found deep fulfillment in championing other remarkable artists. In 2016, I expanded into a larger location in Portland’s Pearl District, where I continued as Owner, President and Resident Artist. The gallery served as a popular space, representing master oil painter Alexander Rokoff, contemporary painter Max Grover and other designers and artists and served as a gallery and social destination for over a decade from 2007 to 2020 up until the pandemic.
The business, "Anne Bocci Boutique & Gallery" won the Pearl District's Business Association "Business of the Year: Retail" in 2017 and also has won number of awards as Boutique of the Year from the Portland Fashion & Style Awards.
I was also honored as a painter to be personally included in "The Jordan Schnitzer Paint-Off (August 2023) a live, two-day art competition at Portland's Director Park, featuring 32 local artists creating works in public to promote downtown revitalization, community engagement, and art accessibility.
Now my home studio is my working base, and have shown my art at the Oregon Art Center and in solo exhibitions. I support Portland's art and music scene by my donating paintings to fund various fundraising and auction efforts. Music and art are fundamental to one's personal growth. One of my recent paintings of rock concert violinist Aaron Meyer was auctioned off and garnered thousands of dollars to support his students of his Concert Rock Academy. Other paintings of mine have also raised money supporting Michael Allen Harrison's Play it Forward Foundation for Equal Access to Music for All.
In my spare time, I'm a jewelry designer.
I have studied with the acclaimed oil painters Alexander Rokoff, Julia Armstrong Peltz, and Shahrad Malek Fazeli of the Oregon Art Center.
My work has been exhibited in solo shows and collaborative shows:
