Suzie of the Suzabelle line
is a indie-designer success story, having produced her own line for
over six years to great acclaim. Suzabelle’s designs have graced the
pages of Lucky, Spin, Portland and Seattle magazines, as well as Zooey
Deschanel in Nylon. She was recently named "Designer of the Decade" by
Seattle Magazine. And Forbes says, "Suzabelle is the emerging designer
to watch."
Suzabelle's clothing designs are feminine, and classic and full of details. Suzanne Jaberg was even dubbed the "Seattle Coat Queen" by the Seattle Times. It's one of the few lines I support that is manufactured overseas, Suzabelle's goal in production is to provide great living wages and work environments for women in smaller, less-develpped countries. Her production manager visits the manufacturers weekly to ensure everything is running smoothly and that all aspects of development are socially responsible. She uses natural fiber materials and dyes whenever possible and source their fabrics and labor within the same community. Suzabelle is dedicated to employing only sweatshop-free labor because she believes that protecting human welfare is critical to ensuring that worldwide conservation initiatives and actions are sustainable and effective. To help offset the impact of production and transportation of these garments on the environment, Suzabelle will donate 5% of proceeds from each sale to Conservation International.
